Authorities investigate hit-and-run pedestrian crash involving multiple vehicles on I-90 in Hamburg

ERIE COUNTY, NY – A man was found deceased last Friday night, June 14, after being struck by multiple vehicles on Interstate 90 in Hamburg, reports WIVB.

The fatal incident was first reported by a driver who said their Lexus hit something on the eastbound lanes of I-90, at around 9:40 p.m.

Emergency responders later confirmed that the vehicle had hit a male pedestrian, who appeared to have been previously struck by an unknown number of other vehicles and tractor-trailers.

A span of eastbound I-90 from Route 75 (Exit 57) to Route 179 (Exit 56) was shut down for nearly five hours. By 3:00 a.m. Saturday, the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened to the public.

Officials had the victim’s remains transported to Erie County Medical Center for an autopsy. As of this writing, no identifying information has been released to the public.

An investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains open and ongoing.
